SALARY
  • Entry level officers with no previous experience / Step 1

    • $59,899.01 (FY24) - While attending the academy

    • $64,391.81 (FY24) - Post academy

  • Previous years of law enforcement service outside of Vermont may increasing the starting rate

  • Salary and benefits accrue while in the Vermont Police Academy

  • Step increase plus cost of living adjustment awarded annually

BENEFITS
  • Annual leave:

    • 0-3 years of service - 10 days leave

    • 4-10 years of service - 15 days leave

    • 11-17 years of service - 20 days leave

    • 18+ years of service - 25 days leave

  • 12 hour shifts - fixed 4-day on / 3-day off schedule

  • 136 hours of sick leave accrual per year with no maximum

  • 12 hours of personal leave per year

  • Compensatory time accumulation of up to 240 hours per year

  • Automatic 7% pay increase after seven years of service
